Manchester United Eye Surprise Transfer Target Ahead of Summer Window

A bargain option on the left wing — Manchester United have added Bournemouth's Marcus Tavernier to their summer shopping list.

Manchester United are keeping tabs on Bournemouth winger Marcus Tavernier as a potential summer signing for the left side of their attack, according to the Daily Mail. Caretaker manager Michael Carrick acknowledged last week that reinforcements in that area are a priority, and Tavernier has emerged as an affordable option in what could be a busy transfer window.

Nottingham Forest's Morgan Gibbs-White and RB Leipzig's exciting prospect Ilay Camara are also on the club's radar, though both would command significantly higher fees and are expected to attract interest from across Europe.

Tavernier has been in solid form this season, contributing six goals and five assists, and is contracted at Bournemouth until 2029. His price tag is believed to be in the region of £40 million, with Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest also credited with an interest in the 25-year-old.

The Daily Mail adds that a new left winger is just one piece of the puzzle for United this summer — the club are also looking to bring in two central midfielders, a left back, and potentially another centre-back as they look to reshape the squad ahead of next season.
